Standard Grant Proposal: SecureSphere Ecosystem

Introduction

SecureSphere is a decentralized, privacy-first security suite built entirely on the Sia network. Our previous grant funded the successful MVP, which included:

  • A mobile app with vault encryption and password management

  • A browser extension with stealer-resistant security features

  • A breach monitoring tool

  • Seedphrase-based authentication

  • All built using decentralized storage via Sia and fully open-source.

We shared the MVP with a selected group of enterprise users including universities who expressed strong interest in adopting SecureSphere for internal use. One key request was secure file sharing, which we are now prioritizing in this proposal.

With this expansion, SecureSphere becomes a cross-platform, Sia-native ecosystem, including:

  • File storage and sharing via SIA

  • Self-hosting tools with auto-deploy

  • NFC cold wallet for seedphrase storage

  • Desktop client apps (macOS & Windows)

  • TOTP & QR sync

  • Flutter Plugin for developer integration

  • Enhanced browser extension with stealer log detection

Our ecosystem will remain fully open-source and designed to empower users and developers to take back control of their data.

Who Benefits from This Project?

  • End-users who want a secure alternative to centralized password/file managers

  • Developers building mobile apps via the Flutter SDK

  • Privacy advocates demanding data sovereignty

  • The Sia ecosystem gains through new Flutter integrations, and user adoption

How does the projected outcome serve the Foundation’s mission of user-owned data?

SecureSphere promotes user-owned data by enabling users to store and manage sensitive information passwords, 2FA codes, seedphrases and files directly on Sia. There’s no centralized control, no data harvesting, and no reliance on external cloud storage.

The planned Flutter plugin will lower the barrier to entry for mobile developers, expanding Sia’s reach into real-world apps and decentralized tooling.

MVP Impact & Adoption Forecast

Our MVP is already being evaluated by several enterprise and academic organizations. Based on current interest, we estimate:

  • 800 active users by year-end 2025

  • Each user consuming ~25 GB of Sia storage on average

  • Total network usage:

    • 20 TB+ storage

    • ~40 TB bandwidth (based on 1:1 upload/download ratio)

This helps grow real Sia network usage, supporting decentralized economics and reinforcing the mission of open infrastructure.

Thanks for your proposal to The Sia Foundation Grants Program.

After review, the committee has decided to reject your proposal citing the following reasons:

  • Moving to a larger grant request would be less preferable than continued small grants for features at this point. The scope was a bit too broad for the committee as it stands
  • Your budget doesn’t add up. It’s only off by $100, but they must sum correctly. Also, we’d appreciate itemized budgets even if “development costs” consumes most of it
  • Forecasting 800 users is incredibly aggressive and probably unrealistic given the current use of projects on the Sia ecosystem.

We’ll be moving this to the Rejected section of the forum. Thanks again for your proposal, and you’re always welcome to submit new requests if you feel you can address the committee’s concerns.
