Project Overview
SentryAI Core is a decentralized, privacy-first video storage framework built on the Sia network. It is designed for seamless integration into existing security camera systems, smart home applications, and surveillance infrastructure.
SentryAI Core provides secure, reliable video storage without relying on centralized cloud services. Video clips are encrypted locally using AES-256 and uploaded to the Sia network via the renterd API. This ensures full user control over footage, long-term data durability, and protection from data breaches or third-party access.
AI detection is offered as an optional module for partners who want to enable on-device event filtering (e.g., motion or face detection), but the core platform focuses on secure storage, easy integration, and industry-standard compatibility.
Key Features (MVP)
• Native integration modules for Android and iOS
• AES-256 client-side encryption for all video files
• Secure decentralized upload via the renterd API
• Support for standard IP camera protocols: RTSP and ONVIF
• Optional on-device detection for motion, people, and faces
• React Native demo app, CLI tools, and developer documentation
Technical Implementation
SentryAI Core includes modular libraries and SDKs for mobile platforms (Android, iOS), a Node.js module for web-based workflows, and a CLI for embedded systems (Linux/NVRs).
Video clips are securely encrypted on the device and uploaded directly to the Sia network using the renterd API. Lightweight on-device detection models (YOLOv8 Lite / TensorFlow Lite) are included optionally for partners who want to reduce bandwidth usage or add smart filtering.
All tooling will be open-source, modular, and designed for real-world integration by security vendors and system integrators.
Grant Request & Budget Breakdown
Total funding requested: $9,100
• $2,200 – Mobile library
• $1,300 – renterd-based encrypted upload system
• $1,800 – Optional lightweight detection modules
• $1,800 – React Native demo and integration app
• $1,000 – Documentation and developer onboarding guides
• $1,000 – QA testing and performance optimization
Development Timeline
Estimated duration: ~13 weeks
Goals of the Grant
The goal is to provide a fully functional, open-source video storage solution that makes decentralized storage practical for the surveillance industry. By removing the need for centralized cloud accounts, SentryAI Core ensures video data remains fully controlled by users or vendors.
The result will be a flexible framework that supports both standalone usage and deeper integration into existing camera platforms or mobile apps.
Alignment with the Sia Foundation’s Mission
• Empowers user-owned data with full client-side encryption
• Drives real-world adoption of decentralized storage in security applications
• Reduces reliance on centralized cloud providers
• Adds valuable open-source tools to the Sia ecosystem
Development Details
• All source code will be open-source and publicly released
• Repository will be shared with the Sia Foundation
• Applicant is not a resident of an OFAC-sanctioned or FATF-monitored country
• Payment account is in an unrestricted jurisdiction
Risks & Mitigation Strategies
• Device compatibility: Wide support via RTSP and ONVIF
• Bandwidth/storage issues: Optional detection helps filter unnecessary footage
• Network failures: Upload queueing and auto-retry features included
• Vendor hesitation: Addressed with white-label support, demo apps, and full documentation
