Small Grant Proposal: SiaPlaybook

Thank you @pcfreak30 — really thoughtful points, I appreciate you raising them.

On the educational content concern:
You’re right that at some point the Foundation deprioritized or moved away from certain types of video grants. From our understanding, that shift was mainly around low-impact, disingenuous or purely surface-level content. Our approach here is quite different — this is not just educational video, but a full architectural playbook with 35 deliverables (TDDs, blueprints, user journeys, etc.) designed for actual implementation and business adoption.

On renterd being frozen:
Yes, we’re aware — and from prior communication, the timeline points to end of Q1 (March 31), which aligns with the Foundation’s upcoming review cycle and grant meeting. So the timing of this proposal is intentional.

On whether this should be handled internally by the Foundation:
That’s a fair point. Our perspective is that this work actually complements the Foundation’s marketing and growth efforts rather than replacing them. The Foundation typically operates at a higher-level ecosystem narrative, while this series goes very deep into “how to build real systems” — something that external builders can often execute with more flexibility and speed. This is also how our previous SiaLearn series was able to generate strong organic traction (40k+ views) and rank in search.

On S5 and ecosystem evolution:
Agreed — and that’s exactly why this series is structured as architecture-first rather than implementation-specific. The goal is to make it resilient to changes across renterd, S5, or future upgrades, so the content remains relevant over time.

Appreciate you raising these — these are important considerations, and we’ve designed the proposal with them in mind.
