interesting initiative; Sia for NextCloud ...but?

  • I saw this artice that originates from this forum.

It is a very cool intiatvie.. Soon with the number of hostst growing, I hope there will come a demand for storage.. It is relatively slowly moving to have your allocated space filled to just cover electricity by participating... And with the income model and parameters a total mysterium to me not being so tech, it is not easy to evaluate if you can ever run this profitable..

I hope the above and integrating SIA into other things such as this above (there was also some one trying to integrate it into windows) could really leverage som data flowing into the net work.

Howver... by reading the above, I have the "fear" that it is still very very tech (I understand that to use NextColud you must basicallly set up a full node, try to understand the logic behind a contract and the machanics behind an allowance fund the wallet and let it RUN always on?) and not mainstream at all, hence the penetration into the storage market will still be very long... The obivous sell is not clear to me..

We should really start to speak about this whole SIA service in a language that non techs can understand in order to break down barriers for communication. I'm happy to prepare a fact sheet in a language that everyone understands, but I do not have all the facts yet!?

I'm all for it. Sia is a really complicated project and you aren't going to be able to get it into a single fact sheet. But, you can get the very basics into a fact sheet, and then maybe provide some links for where to learn more if people aren't happy with just the basics.

Have you seen the wiki? https://siawiki.tech - We're building that out over time, with the goal of making it the best place to learn about Sia. It's a community effort, and probably a great place to get started if you want to make fact sheets, infographics, etc. that can be distributed.

  • @taek; this is a lovely collection of info. It is very detailed and I think it still has a tech flavour to it.. I would like to communicate something more easy understandable.

Please don't "hide" this valuable info - link to it in your forums upper right side :-)

I'll digest all the info and see how I can structure and reword and re-position it from a user perspective ...
