Sia-UI and siad content folders interchangeability (running same wallet on two PCs)

  • Hello everyone,
I stored some files on Sia network (50+contracts) with the help of Sia-UI on my home PC. Then stopped Sia-UI, archived its content and copied to my virtual machine on another network. Copied siad to this folder and started it.

    1. siad started to re synchronize from beginning. Why ???
    2. The wallet was impossible to unlock - it asked to init wallet first. So wallet was wiped too? I used siac wallet init-seed and entered the seed from my home PC. So I've got balance on my wallet correctly.
    3. All the contracts and anything in renter are not there anymore. In the same time I see everything on my home PC.

Is there any way one can run same wallet/renter folder on two PCs? Is it only because of problems with interchangeability between Sia-UI and siad?

Regards and thank for any useful advice you may give.

The data such as the consensus stuff is kept in your app data folders. On Windows, that in %APPDATA%, on linux it's in $HOME/.config, and I forget where it is on Mac but if you are Mac I will look it up for you.

If you are using the ui, you need to copy over those data directories as well.

  • Data are all copied. Even runnung siad instead of Sia-UI on the same PC is reporting to be out of sync and no wallet access. This is very strange. I might missing something. I used siad from the directory where all file are located and I used siad -d to specify the directory. It is seems that Sia-UI and siad expectations of what should be inside of this directory (in terms of content not the names) is very different.

Can anyone provide clear instructions on how to run sia node on two hosts with same renter and wallet content?

  • @Taek I've found the error, I copied wrong archive to remote site, it was test copy in current directory instead of newly created archive which i placed in another directory.
