Recovering coins
-
Hi all,
Disclaimer: I am a total tech-noob. I would really appreciate help.
I have re-installed the SIA software on my mac after deleting it about 5 months ago. I had some SIA in my wallet however, and now after installing and trying to access my wallet, I am asked to provide a password. Every password I type in is incorrect, however, I know for a fact that it should be one of my regular passwords.
I have tried typing 'wallet load seed' in the terminal, but in both fields I still appear not to have submitted the correct password.
Could someone please guide me through the steps needed to solve this? I know how to get the 'wallet load seed' screens up, but I don't really know what I am doing and what the error messages mean.
Many many thanks in advance for your help!
EDIT: will send some SIA to whoever helps me get my SIA back, I'd hate for my SIA to be lost in cryptospace :)

@rethera The "password" for a SIA wallet isn't s short string that you would commonly thing of as a password - it is dozens of random words. If you didn't write that down when the wallet was created (you are told to copy it when making a new wallet) then there is no way to recover your previous wallet.

Ok, then I hope I got that on a paper somewhere. Should I find it I will contact you and send you some SIA, but I have little hopes.
Thanks anyway for letting me know!

@brwainer Hi, I am having similar situation here. when you type in the random words, do you put " "(space) or ","(comma) between the words or just type all the words all the way?
-
@tokyosilver you type the phrase exactly how it was given to you - normally like "boy girl cat dog" - i.e. with spaces between the words. There shouldn't be anything before the first word or after the last word. I've always just copied and pasted the string from a secure note in my password manager, and never had an issue.
