A SIA -UI error has occured : SIAD unexpectedly closed
-
@imab: look in this thread: https://forum.sia.tech/topic/859/restart-of-sia-ui
once you get pass the error (by cleaning up those JSON files) you will need to enter your seed and your coins will be back. I never lost anything from the wallet, but contracts and stored files might risk to go lost, if not proper handled.
-
@larsfloe @Taek The error no longer comes out but is still stuck in the "Loading can take a while while upgrading to a new wallet version.Check the release notes for more details." ... Any ideas how much can it be " can take a while"? Should i wait or what i do? Thanks for your help .
EDIT: Another question, what would happen if I made a copy of the wallet and consensus folder, and then delete everything. So can I start over? Or lose the coins this way? ( I'm a newbie in all this, Im sorry if I ask nonsense questions, trying to learn: D)

Well at the end looking for the problem it seemed that when the wallet got updated, it was blocked when finished downloading the file "transactionpool.dat", what I have done was 1st copy all the contents of the folder C:\Users\Xxx\AppData\Roaming\Sia-UI and save it, 2nd delete the entire contents of C:\Users\Xxx\AppData\Roaming\ Sia-UI, I have reinstalled the wallet and its downloading the blockchain again,i guess i will be able to recover my coins after all this using seed?, using google translator im sorry if you dont understand something or anything :D
-
Yes, you should be able to recover your coins. When the UI says 'sometimes can take a while' it can mean a few hours depending on what it's doing. We intend to add a more helpful message soon.

Well, I finally got my wallet back. I just came to say how I've done it and the steps I've taken
I do not know if the first 3 steps are necessary if we just want to recover the wallet,I did them just in case.
1- Copy all the files in C:\Users\ "Username"\AppData\Roaming\Sia-UI
2- Save them in a folder
3- Delete all content from C:\Users\ "Username"\AppData\Roaming\Sia-UI
4- Reinstall the wallet (download bc again........)
5- Once the bc has been updated, create a new wallet
6- After this go to "TERMINAL" and type the following: siac wallet load seed
7- It will ask you for the seed of the new wallet we have created, type it and press enter
8- After that It will ask for the seed of the wallet that we want to recover, type it and press enterr
9- Restart SIA-UI and use the new wallet password you created to unlock it.And that's it, now you have to wait a bit of time until it is unlocked and you should have your SC's of the "old" wallet.

@imab did you get this issue solved? I have the same issue and I don't want to install SIA UI again, it took me two days to synchronize. Please advise if you have managed to workaround this issue.
-
@imab I just saw your solution, when you reinstalled the SIA UI, di dyou have to wait again to synch the app with the blockchain? It took me two days last time to synch it.
-
@imab do you always have to download the blockchain again, every time you open the SIA app?
-
@Attilino You don't have to download the entire blockchain again but you do have to catch up to the current block and resync.
