Can I migrate contract/file metadata from one siad to another?

  • I am spamming questons here, I hope it is ok.

So I started with setting up sia-ui. It was very easy and straitforward, I set allowance and uploaded some files without any issues at all.

I have since migrated to a headless 24/7 host using siac instead, I have managed to migrate the wallet. but what about the contracts and the uploaded files, are those migratable?

If not thats not a huge deal, but it is good to know what data is useful to save.

  • by chance i copied the renter folder, it think that may have done the trick.

Definitely okay to be spamming questions, they are all relevant.

The siad folders are fully portable, you can even migrate them to a new machine. If you grab all of the siad folders, you should get something that is completely equivalent to what you were running before.

It's generally recommended that you migrate all of the folders together instead of one at a time. You should be okay if you migrate just a few of them, but the chances of running into bugs are lower if you migrate everything.

  • Could you please list explicitly "all of the siad folders", it would help me and possibly others. It is not entirly obvious since I have been sloppy and not given siad an decicated user, so folders are mixed with other stuff.

Most people will not have the explorer, but you should have all of the others if you are running a default client. Some specialized clients will be missing more folders than just the explorer.
