I want to upload files via cli point me in right direction

  • I am looking for something simliar to the aws glacier cli toolset for sia, does the "Sia-UI" include this?

    I am on ubuntu 16

Thanks in advance, really cool project.

    edit:
So i have downloaded the Sia-UI to my laptop and it runs fine and a do like that you made a standalone static linked binary. But my intension was to upload from a headless. I guess one way is use vnc or simliar, but I would much rather have some cli.

    edit again:
Ok so I fond the siad and the api examples, this seems simple enogh to wrap with somewhat dirty scripting, maybe i should try node.js why not. It seems you only need very basic skills to integrate with api, the documenation looked very good.

I thnk I have answered my own quesiton here.

If you are just looking for a headless way to use Sia, you should look siac, a command line utility that's distributed with the CLI binaries (available in the sidebar). You can explore siac through liberal use of the -h or --help flag. Pretty much every command has good help info. e.g. siac --help will give you and overview of everything, siac renter --help will give you an overview of various renter actions, siac renter upload --help will tell you about uploading, etc.

If you want something a little more powerful than the command line utility, you can talk to the api directly. A great tutorial for getting started is available here: http://blog.sia.tech/2016/10/20/api-quickstart-guide/

  • Ok siac is excactly what is was looking for. I found it a bit confusing it was grouped under wallet (I am sure that makes perfect sense somehow, but it was unexpected to me),

If I understand this correctly siac is only a "remote control" for siad.

I will buy some of your coins and give it a spin when I have the time.

  • Possibly it could be menthioned in the geting started /store guide that siac exists, but I can see the benifit of not doing it. Hereby keeping the text shorter and as simple as possible. Anyhow think about it.
