How long should it take before contracts appear?

  • Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I did announce the host but I have a dynamic IP (with dynamic dns set up).. so I used:

host announce mydomain.com:9982 - Obviously replacing mydomain with my actual domain.

I did have 50,000 capital but sia announces each time my IP changes so it is now a little lower.

I just tried announcing with the IP address as a test using:

    host announce 5.66.227.253:9982

That went through OK but after 15 minutes or so I'm still not showing on siapulse.. How long should it take before I show up?

  • Hi Taek,

I am still not appearing on siapulse.. I have verified that my ports are open using http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/.

I have the UI configured with a competitive price according to the estimate when running host -v and I have enough collatteral (minus some announces).

Could my dynamic IP be causing a problem? What's the best way to troubleshoot my connection to the network?

    Thanks

  • Hi kennyb,

If you dont mind, let me know if and how you get this fixed, as i am in the same problem but i have a static ip. I have tried many of things to, as its a time consuming process of waiting 6 hours to see if we show up on siapulse.

  • @sceptre2564,

I've given up now, I've been unable to find any help on what to do and no one in the forum seems to know.

I've disabled my host and will wait until the platform is a little more mature and has some better troubleshooting tools / documentation before trying again.

I'm still mining siacoin and still think it's a great idea I just don't want my coins to leech away through constant announces that aren't really doing anything.

  • Last night i swapped my wallet around, by loading it onto another computer, and completely deleting everything about siacoin on my server station.

I started completly fresh and put 55000 siacoin into wallet, after swapping my correct ports and setting everything up like i tried many times before. I was finally listed on hostdb :) still not listed on siapulse, and i already have 2 active contracts in less then 12 hours. I will do a little research on dynamic ip and if i dont mind helping you out with fixing yours if you would like :)

  • @sceptre2564 have you tried following steps like these to set ip address to static for your host computer
    https://portforward.com/networking/static-win7.htm

  • Sounds promising, I'll export and re-import the wallet with a fresh install and see if that helps any.

Thanks for the link on dynamic IP but that's how to set a static IP on the internal network.. I have that and don't think sia uses it... My external IP is dynamic but sia seems to pick up the changes and re-announce when it happens to change so maybe that's not the problem.

    Appreicate you posting a fix.

  • @sceptre2564 when you refer to hostdb is this a website or are you running the hostdb command on your (or another) sia machine?

I've just tried a fresh setup of sia, funded it with 55000 sia, fingers crossed it works.. I wanted to see if it was visible on hostdb as it still isn't on siapulse.

Could you clarify how you checked.

    Thanks

  • @kennyb Today my host showed up on siapulse I currently have 11 contracts, I was able to see on hostdb in sia client on my server station and a different computer connected via different internet connection fairly soon after it was set up correctly. I was not sure if setting your dns to something thats not changing on your computer would work as when your isp changes ip address all that info changes as well.

  • @sceptre2564 it seems to be working now.. I set up the sia client again after deleting everything so I'm not sure what was wrong with the 1st install.

I think the dynamic IP was a red herring, it all seems to be working even after an IP change.

  • @kennyb That is awesome that it started working, who would figure just a simple fresh install fix's it :). I would say it took 48 hours to show on siapulse. Glad you got it fixed bud.
