Questions about speed of uploading a single file from a sync'd client.

  • Hello. I'm working on a POC that relies on uploading audio files almost continuously. When I have a new file, how quickly can I rely on another random computer to be able to download it (assuming I first send the .sia file)? Also, is there a significant delay between a downloader being able to see the existence of a file, and that downloader being able to actually download it?

This will impact how quickly I can get a "live" audio recording onto the cloud and back onto another device. My application doesn't require extremely low lag, but I'd like to know what magnitude of lag I'm dealing with.

As this is a blockchain, I'm sure the answer is significantly more complex than this question gives it credit for :P

    Thanks for any info!

For the near future, Sia does not have an easy way to share files. Once it does, you should be able to upload a small file and then have someone else download it from the same host in under 1 second, though it really depends on how big the file is and how fast your internet connection is. Optimized setups can probably get down to around 300ms, but again that's not going to be supported for a good while.
