How to mine SIA Coins?

  • Hello,
    i read the beginers guide
but the Third Party Windows Miner url is offline.
Is it currently possible to mine sia?

    Greetings

    Hi, welcome to the forum.

The beginners guide was pointing to the wrong link, I have updated it and now it should point to the right place.

We're phasing out the beginners guide and trying to move everybody to https://sia.tech - there's an FAQ which covers most of the items in the beginner's guide, and there's an 'app' page that links to the miner

  • I get this error with the gui client and the gpu-gui miner

You get the 400 error if your wallet is locked. You will need to create a wallet and unlock for the mining (and hosting) to work.

  • Ok thank you but only works with the older client Sia-UI-v0.4.3-beta-win64.

So you're only getting the 400 error with version 0.4.4?

Do you manage to unlock the wallet with v0.4.4?

Edit: I see here (http://forum.sia.tech/topic/6/no-peers) that you have issues with the latest gui that is preventing you to unlock your wallet as well. The current workaround until the gui is fixed is to unlock the wallet from the command line. But if v0.4.3 is working for you you may stick with that until the next upgrade.

The GUI was having issues because 'siad' was unable to connect to the updating server (for the record, that's a bug. The GUI should work even if the daemon isn't able to connect to our update server). If you are planning on using Sia for mining though, I recommend getting acquainted with 'siac' and using the command line. The gui is much less stable than the command line tools.
