sia address confusion

  • Dear all,

Finally i managed to get the sia up with droghio help.
I just realised something about this address.

In the sia interface, we can always go to the 'wallet', and check on the 'Receive Siacoin' to see the address.
I can conclude that if i want to received siacoin, i have to provide the address to the provider.

BUt when i go to the terminal interface, and launch command 'wallet addresses', it will list down a long list of addresses.

Can I use one of the addresses in the list to receive siacoin ? or I have to use the one from the "Receive Siacoin".

Finally, can I change the address in the Received Siacoin to the one of the addresses in the list ?

    Thank you in advance.

  • You can use any of your addresses for receiving funds to your wallet. Sia will always generate a new address for you when you request one. This is to prevent reuse of addresses, which is a privacy concern on any public blockchain.

Just to reiterate, it's good to not reuse addresses. Though you can get a list of all of your addresses using the CLI, it's better to grab a new address any time that you want someone to send you money.

  • Dear all,

Many thanks for the explaination. Have a great day.
