Problems trying to set up sia CLI in Ubuntu 14.04 Headless

  • Dear friends,

I have problems installing sia CLI in my headless rig.

I followed all the intructions in http://forum.sia.tech/topic/17/howto-run-sia-host-on-headless-linux-server-ubuntu but when I restart supervisor daemon I can't see the message "siad entered RUNNING state, process has stayed up for > than 1 seconds (startsecs)" in supervisord.log file.

Then, when I try ./siac, I get this "Could not get current consensus state: no response from daemon"

    Any ideas?

  • Are you sure you ran the service supervisor restart command?
That error message indicates siac could not find the sia daemon, ie the siad process.
I would use ps to check that siad is indeed running.

  • Hi droghio,

Thank you for your help, yes I ran service supervisor restart, but I obtained the message with ./siac "Could not get current consensus state: no response from daemon".

At the end, I followed this tutorial http://blog.sia.tech/2016/05/26/how-to-run-a-host-on-sia/, running siad in background ( no daemon), and all is fine now.

I also tried in the first tutorial use systemd, but is not installed in ubuntu, and I didn't want to learn about sysctl ... at the moment! ;)

Thank you for your answers, and sorry for my English ;)
