Lost wallet after restarting siad
-
I created a wallet using UI and added wallet and 51k sc. As i was unable to add storage folders, i restarted my machine and started siad from command prompt. It seems my wallet.json is overwritten. As today is my first day trying these things, i did not back up my wallet.json. It seems all my balance is gone and UI asked me to create new wallet again. How do i retrieve my balance again?

Sia-UI creates the wallet using a default data directory, if you start siad from the command line it will use your working directory as your data directory. Your old wallet still exists, you just need to point siad to it. You can either quit your instance of siad and let the UI start one, or pass siad the --sia-directory flag. Your UI's sia-directory is located at %APPDATA%/Sia-UI/sia on windows, ~/Library/Application Support/Sia-UI/sia on OSX, and ~/.config/Sia-UI/sia on linux.

Also note that if you really did lose your wallet file, you can still recover your coins by creating a new wallet and loading the old wallet seed via
siac wallet load seed.
