Ex-mining GPU

  • Banned

    Hi,

When I was selling my GPU, a lot of people were asking whether it was used for crypto mining.
Likewise I am now seeing GPUs on sale that were used for mining 24x7 for about 3 months.
Why are people concerned about that? Is there a 'burn-in', it's not like it has mechanical parts (other than fans spinning really high with heavy lead?)

    Any help will be apprecited.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

    Thank you.

  • Miners frequently run their cards 24/7 and sometimes outside specification, i.e. too hot. Both have a negative impact on the expected lifetime of a GPU.

At least that's what common sense would lead one to believe; I'm not sure if there's any scientific research backing that up ;-)
