can't announce as a host

I am trying to announce as a host but it says I need 50,000SC is this a error? I have no SC . 50,000 is a lot! how do I start hosting? Thanks!
I enabled the miner but it doesn't tell me what it's doing. It just says started. But I don't know if it is working or not and 50,000 would probably take forever to get.

You will actually need 50000 to start hosting for several reasons. Consider buying some from an exchange (like Poloniex).
You need it for locked collateral and also as proof that you're invested in hosting and not just going to quit.
