Recover account with seed
-
What command do I exactly use in the command line ( SIA GUI 1.0 )
to recover a old wallet with my seeds ?
-
@brunozisterer In the terminal in the Sia UI I used:
wallet load seed
The UI will then ask for your wallet password
( I found this pretty confusing myself since the password it wanted was for the NEW Wallet password generated by Sia UI 1.0 )Then the UI will ask for the seed you want to load into the new wallet, here you copy in the seed for your old wallet.
Hopefully everything should now be okay :) If you don't get a error in the Terminal window in the UI.( Using this method I loaded multiple seeds from old wallets into the new wallet :D )
If you have problems, make sure you created a new wallet before trying to load the old seed into it.
And remember you cannot see any Sia in your account before the blockchain is completely loaded.
Hope this helps :D

hi i did the command and it got a success message but I still dont see the balance. The blockchain is up to date.

You need to restart
siad. It needs to rescan your wallet to look for transactions concerning the new seed.

I've got a wallet with 125k in it that I lost after a crash but I have the seed, so i created a new wallet, reloaded the blockchain, then tried to load the old seed but got this error:
Could not add seed: error when calling /wallet/seed: word not found in dictionary for given language

@siacat Double check your seed. That error tends to indicate a spelling error. Also just to double check was your seed comprised of English words, or did it use a different dictionary?

Hi,
I have set up an account on another computer - my laptop - but didn't save the new password generated by Sia. How can I clean up my laptop and start again? Each time I start again the option to create a new wallet doesn't exist but opens the new wallet and asks for a password I don't have. How can I get around this?
Thanks
