Hashrate keeps growing while difficulty dropping sharply?
-
Anybody knows what caused that?
It is obvious to see that the total hashrate keeps growing up gradually while the difficulty dropped sharply at the end of Jan.

I ask something similar a few days back - Block Time decreased sharply
https://siastats.info/mining.html
-
@cryptocrucian Exactly, anyone knows what happened? Quite wired!
-
Not weired. The difficulty will decrease until every ~10minutes (average block time) a new block is found. This is an adaption process to keep the blockchain processing with changing hashrate.
-
@lasat The new DAA adjusts the difficulty every block and will be able to keep the network stable during sudden spikes in hashrate. It seems the difficulty should be changed each block.
And my question is, What is the reason of difficulty decrease while the total hash rate is keeping raised.
THX!

I do not know anything about how the DAA is implemented, but I am sure that the DAA is using an average method over the last x hours|days to calculate the new difficulty. The difficulty should, but mustn't, depend an the hashpower. The hashrate is reported by the mining pools and possible is wrong.
