Suggested Prices in Sia 1.0?
-
I am little confused about the price settings in Sia 1.0 UI Version
Its seems to suggest TB instead of GB in the hosting section.
So just wanna make sure the intent really is as suggested:Collateral per TB per Month (SC) = 250
Price per TB per Month (SC) 1000
Bandwidth Price (SC/TB) = 250The reason I am asking is its confusing when setting up the storage location you have to specify it in GB.
Got me thinking one of the 2 might be wrong? Are you really meaning TerraByte in the UI Hosting setting?
What would be a good price to begin with?

The ui is correct. Bandwidth is in SC/TB and collateral is SC/TB/Month while the storage folder size is in GB.

@droghio Okay :-) Thank you!
Are there any suggested settings for the prices other then the default?
Should I just go with the defaults? or?If I look at http://siapulse.com/page/network
The prices are in SC per GB so the default prices seems faaaaar from reality, if siapulse is correct
-
Defaults should be good, they seem to match sia-pulse 1-8 SC/GB/Month = 1000 SC/TB/Month
-
@droghio I totally misread siapulse LoL, thanks for the eye opener :D
-
Np, glad I could help.

You can also look at "siac host" output, there is an "estimated competitive price" value.

@Veber Thank you! Will do that when I can, syncing the blockchain right now, so can't do much of anything at the moment :P

Wait wait , 1000sc month per TB , but this is 0.77 Dolars Month! A hdd cost 50USD for 2TB where is the bussines , ROI in more than 40 Months ?

@juandfacundo a lot of the early hosts are using drives they have already purchased or just have lying around, which means that they can make money while still offering very low prices. As the network matures, and as the redundancy requirement is lowered, we will probably see the payout settle between $1 and $2 per month per TB for hosts. A 12-24 month ROI for hosts seems pretty reasonable - most drives last longer than that, which means that over the course of 3 years you should be able to make 50% returns, which is pretty significant compared to the growth of the stock market.
Time will tell. Sia is a competitive platform, which means the best/cheapest/strongest hosts will make money, and the rest will probably be out-competed. It's too early to know exactly where the optimal price will fall.
