Host setup verification
-
Hi,
I've followed the tutorial http://blog.sia.tech/2016/05/26/how-to-run-a-host-on-sia/ to setup my host.
It seems pretty straightforward but it's now been 3 days since I've done it and I still don't get any contract.
How do I know if my setup is correct?- I'm using version sia v0.6.0
- My IP address appears on the siapulse host section (but not on the map)
- It does not appear in the siac hostdb list
After a few days the siac host command returned the following
Host info: Storage: 300.000 GB (0 B used) Price: 2 KS / TB / Month Max Duration: 25920 Blocks Accepting Contracts: Yes Anticipated Revenue: 60.01 SC Locked Collateral: 46.19 KS Risked Collateral: 9.664 SC Revenue: 0 H Lost Revenue: 0 H Lost Collateral: 0 H Storage Folders: Used Capacity % Used Path 0 B 300.000 GB 0.00 /sia/localBut I still have no data. Is there a way to know what's going on (like a debug output)? Is it a configuration problem or is it that I should wait more?

From the output I see that:
- You got some contracts (locked collateral != 0)
- Someone did upload some files to your host (risked collateral !=0; anticipated revenue !=0).
You can also look at "siac wallet transactions" output to find out the transaction ids that formed the contracts.
don't know why "used" is 0 B and the host does not appear in hostdb list. That's indeed strange.

Ok thanks.
When I check the /sia/local directory content I can't find any file. Is it possible to start a contract and not use the memory associated to it?

It is possible to start a contract and then not upload anything. If the renters decide to upload at some later time, they will be able to do so.
There are enough hosts right now selling storage for free that you aren't going to be selected for uploading anymore. Once people start using the platform more heavily, all the free storage will probably be consumed and hosts offering higher prices will be more competitive. Based on what I've seen on other networks, you should probably aim your price at about $1 / TB / Mo if you want to be competitive. There will also be more tools for helping you gauge a competitive price based on the other hosts on the network.

Ok I understand better but how come that I've announced my host with a domain but this is indeed the IP that is displayed on siapulse instead of the domain? And how come that siac hostdb does not mention my host?
