ERROR Adding Folder to Host on Mac
-
Just spent 2 days syncing my computer but now when I try to add a folder to host I get the error below:
"Error Adding Folder
could not allocate storage folder:truncate/volumes/sia/siahostdata.dat: file too large"Please help!
-
How much storage are you looking to use?

I have 2x 500gb external HD's I'd like to add. However this error pops up when trying to add just one.

How much space is available on the drive after you've formatted it, and how much are you attempting to share?

The drives are empty, I'm trying to share the entire capacity of the drives.
Do I need to format the drives a certain way for hosting?

@youdontngo
I would suggest you to try to add the space gradually and not the whole drive at once.
create some folders on it and add these folders with say 1/4 (or 1/10) of the drives capacity for each shared folder.
It could be some extraordinary situation/combination where some possible file system limits kick in as Sia is creating a single file for the entire drive.Though, i am not familiar with Mac and filesystems on external drives.

Thanks for the feedback, seems the problem was with using external drives. Works fine when using the internal drives.
Looks like will need to find a different use for the drives!
