Cant get Marlin to work due to unknown error
-
Try marlin --selftest
After
Marlin --benchmark
Adjust the intensity (-I) and if you want the algoritm paturn (-K)
-
You need to only mine on half your devices, as marlin sees both openCL and cuda for each card. Use -d 0,1,2,3,4,5 to mine on just the CUDA or -d 6,7,8,9,10,11 to mine using OpenCL.
use --benchmark -d 0,6 to see if CUDA or openCL is faster for your cards.
Is there an update for cuda?

@bryan I am currently using claymore's dual miner but not to happy with the results. Sitting at 20mh/s eth en 335 mh/s per card. Where as when I would use Marlin I would be getting 1150 mh/s per card if I am correct. Why is Marlin not good btw?
-
Thanks! Will test these options and let you know if they have worked.

That's to be expected. You are hashing eth at 20mh/s. ~3/4 of your hashing power is being used for hashing Eth.
I'm curious why @bryan says marlin isn't good. It's faster in my testing compared to the other miners. @bryan That's a bold statement. Other than various users on here being new to mining, what's the reason you think marlin isn't very good?

@xurious though marlin is very simple it fails to maintain a steady and decent rate on stock clocks. And that's if you can even get it to run error free. I've not heard of a single problem with cc.
And it's not like I'm just saying stuff. With 40+ gpus stability is super important.

@xurious could you perhaps show me an example of how a file should look like when running --benchmark and where I should use the -d 0,1,2 etc.
I have tried most positions but without any luck, fyi I am a new Linux user so most stuff is pretty unknown.

Marlin ran error free across all of my video cards for the better part of 6 months when 1.0 was released. I had to stop because I moved them.
What video cards do you have?
What information do you have besides anecdotal for "it fails to maintain a steady and decent rate on stock clocks."
For forcing your cards to use cuda:
./marlin -H us-east.siamining.com:3333 -u YourSiacoinAddress.YourWorkerName -I 28 -d 0,1,2,3,4,5
For forcing your cards to use openCL
./marlin -H us-east.siamining.com:3333 -u YourSiacoinAddress.YourWorkerName -I 28 -d 6,7,8,9,10,11
To test which if opencl or cuda is faster:
./marlin --benchmark -d 0,6
-
@xurious 980s a couple straggler 970s.

Sorry to come back so late on this. Recently became a dad so pretty much got my hands tied haha.
Never the less I have tried both but they both come with errors, differrent errors though. Please see beneath.
