Redundancy / Fault Tolerance?
-
Hi everyone. I'm pretty new to this and just had a couple of questions regarding redundancy and fault tolerance. From what I've gathered so far, my impression is that, if I am renting space, my data is stored only on one host, and it is up to whomever owns that server to take care of redundancy and fault tolerance?
Or, is my data spread around among multiple hosts, with added parity that can fill a hole if one of the hosts goes offline?
TIA

@ehidle As a renter you don't have to worry about redundancy. Files are autmatically duplicated to mere hosts to ensure a safe restore of data. When uploading files your files a split into little chunnks of bytes,m encrypted and spread around on serveral hosts.
I'll tip you the following write up on it, which is quite good.

@larsfloe Right on, that's the kind of info I was looking for. I'd actually read the handbook but not the comments below it. Hah.
