hostdb not updated?

  • Hi,

My host is up since beginning of June and I have about 70GB of data on my server by now.

I notice that siahub isn't updating most of the time (certainly not daily) and that siapulse is unable to load the hosts data.

Checking via siac hostdb -v | grep "myname" shows me my host is not in there.

I have some small amount of contracts the last few weeks but certainly not what it used to be in the beginning.
Not even if I maken my upload/download/storage price equal to 0.

    Any solutions / ideas ?

    Thx,

    Arne

  • @ArneVR Existing & common problem..
Siahub and Siapulse are not officially Nebulous Developer sites.. they are maintained by 3rd party users of Sia.. and therefore the information may or may not be current, accurate, or updated in real time- or at all.
Bear in mind I am not trying to be negative just accurately report what has been stated in the slack on numerous occassions and in reddit.
As far as the hostdb trying to scan your own IP.. there is no "easy way" to scan your own IP in Sia- leaving you guessing what your true uptime is. I have heard of some "other ways" to allow Sia detect your IP, but not sure how to do that.

My issue with not being able to tell "accurately" how long your host has been up is a dark area in terms of knowing if your being penalized or not.. or exactly how your host is behaving within the Sia network. Your pretty much driving blind. If there is a way to tell.. post up. :)

  • SiaHub uses custom wallet to get correct data - https://siahub.readme.io/docs/host-uptime#section-how-does-it-work-
So at current moment it pretty accurate and minimal delay updates.
I dont see any reasons to not trust this data, since i keep eye on it and checking any abnormal data or inconsistence.

SiaPulse looks unmaintained long time and using default wallet settings.

Current default settings cant handle database size. that is really critical issue.

  • @Sanasol No disrespect, but you say (at the current moment) its accurate. I think the issue is that any given moment it may not be accurate and people not given up to date TRUE information when they are looking at it 1 minute to the next. If you do not keep an eye on it.. when these people are looking at it- I think that is the disconnect that still exists.
