Charges showing up that I didn't make
-
Hello,
I'm a new siacoin user and I am seeing transactions showing up on my wallet that I didn't make. This basically started when I enabled hosting this morning.
The translation I am talking about specifically was for .6 sc and I am sure that I didn't make it. Should I be using a VPN? Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks

Is this simply collateral coming out of my account? It says I have zero active contracts though...

@joocy_j
I do think 0.6SC is what the network charges every time a host is announced (published to the network).Be aware, that with hosting enabled there will more "strange" transactions appear (coins will disappear), as your collateral will get locked when someone starts uploading to your host.

Okay thanks,
Do the charges show up when you disconnect too?
Is there anything I can read about these "strange" charges?

@joocy_j
If you are hosting, don't disconnect!
The host must be running all time, with wallet unlocked...Most "strange" transactions are related to collateral locking and getting the locked coins back later.
Collateral is locked (deducted from your balance) every time a user uploads new (additional) data. More collateral for bigger uploads, less for smaller.
There is no easy readable places where the calculation of single collateral related transactions is described...For example, I have seen a "strange transaction", where coins were transferred between addresses that belong to one wallet... I assume that was a transaction representing collateral locking and returning.

@joocy_j The 0.6 charge is a Sia Fund fee that is attached to every transaction made in Sia. This is roughly 3.9% transaction fee. This pertains to a 0 SC withdrawal. If you see a 0.6 fee this is to announce your host and should be done 1 time only.
You will also see other withdrawls from the account after you acquire contracts with renters.. and this would be for collateral .

Cool, thanks so much guys.
I have one other question if you dont mind. How do I solve the "host unreachable" problem? I run a VPN, could this be causing me problems? I have pretty limited computer knowledge. Thanks

@joocy_j
host unreachable means that other hosts (renters) can not get through your defences and connect to your announced address..
You should announce the address your host is accessible at for the "outer space".
