How to cancel my renter storage

Hey everyone,
I am curious how to cancel or "turn off" my storage as a renter. I am a new user and decided to try everything out first hand. I set an allowance of 1000 SC and waited for the contracts to pull up. I was suprised to see 50 contracts were created and over 300 SC were spent automatically. So it looks like we dont have the ability to shop around the contracts ourselves yet. Hopefully that comes soon. Since I have no idea what I will be charged for bandwidth, I have decided not to upload any files. Since im not going to use the service as a renter right now I would like to avoid any automatic refills on my allowance. I also definitely dont want Sia to sign me up for new contracts once the first set expires. Thanks in advance for your replies!

What happens if you set the allowance to 0 (zero)? Just throwing out a quick answer until the more knowledgeable people anwer. I'm not a renter.

It does not allow me to set the allowance to 0. When I tried it produced an error that says "Sia-UI Files Error: allowance is not large enough to cover fees of contract creation"

in case anyone stumbles across this and hasn't found the answer yet: go to the terminal and type 'renter allowance cancel' to cancel your contracts/storage manually at any time. I have no idea what happens with your unspent allowance though. It might be returned after the original contract duration ends, but others on reddit have expressed they won't be returned ever.

Unless I'm wrong, the reason being is you paid the hosts for the space required by your contract. Regardless of your data usage. It's unfair for the hosts to reserve space for you (your contracts) and not be compensated for it (otherwise they could have "sold" that space to other renters.)

To answer your question. The command is [ renter allowance cancel ] to cancel your allowance and get out of the contracts you may be in.
I have tried this and it worked. The caveat about Sia is- once your in contracts your stuck. This command will basically cancel the allowance- but you also loose those coins. they do not come back.. which is a deviation from Storj (in that they onyl charge you for what you use vs what you do not use).
But I understand. Your not able to select contracts.. weird to me too. But to get out - you can use the above command and move on without worry of loosing additional coins.
