Help needed with Hosting Configurations

  • Howdy all I'm a newbie.

I've been an active hoster on Sia for two days, but have not won any contracts. I'm using the latest synched UI, have allocated a 3TB drive & all the configs are default: 26 / 100 / 50 / 25. Accepting contracts & announced, have 2000+ coins. Any tips please on whether I should alter any of those, bandwidth price is not an issue. I just used the default address that came up to announce, no idea how to check whether that was correct.

  • Hi there...

your problem is general to all in the net work.. The supply of storage far reaches beyond demand, meaning excess of storage - Just a bit more than1% of the close to two peta byte active storage at the moment is utilized :-(

Meaning that announcing a new host will take som time to have any space rented out.

To let you understand how the mechanics works look at this post:

  • @larsfloe OK Thanks - same deal as Storj. That 3TB is going back to Burst, I'll find a few gigs for Sia elsewhere.

  • @larsfloe Forgot to ask, are the default config settings ok then?

  • Also search for your host on http://siahub.info/ and check its score, and the values that make up the score.

You can play with these configurations based on what's explained in the Hosting Handbook @larsfloe linked to above.

As a reference, my score is in the top 10, and I had an increase of less then 500MB over the last 24 hours. There's not a lot of demand in the network right now!
