PC Lag When Uploading

I am having an issue with very bad lag on my PC when Sia is running and uploading a file. This is my first upload and I am testing with a single 3Gb file that is located on a NAS.
I am running the version 1.2.2 on a Windows 10 machine with a 6600k and 16Gb ram. I see no reason that Sia should be using enough resources to make my machine basically unusable. I see around 40% CPU and a few Gb of ram usage when Sia is running which shouldn't cause problems.
Does anyone have advice or suggestions? I really like the idea of this technology but so far the actual implementation is lacking.
