Recover the funds from my old wallet.

Hi I've become concerned about the security of my old wallet and seed, so wish to create a new wallet and move the funds over. From what I understand - so long as i have the seed written down I can use this to recover my funds, is this correct?

Is it as simple as deleting the program and installing it again fresh?

If I do this will the new seed and password protect the coins, if the security of my old seed and password were compromised?
