Marlin Miner Avast problem.

  • About 2 days ago, my Siacoin miner suddenly stopped working because Avast detected a problem in marlin miner. I was using it for about 3 days beforehand totally fine, generating about 500 siacoins in the hours I had it on.

I followed this guide on installing it (https://mtlynch.io/windows-sia-mining), with the address for my Poloniex account for the mining destination.

Avast deleted the marlin application file from the folder, so i decided to re-download and re-extract it. Trying to extract is was causing a problem as it said i needed special permission, in which I had to change several settings in order to do so. When successfully extracting it again and running it, Avast detected a problem once again and deleted it again. Will I have to re-extract the file again, set it up, then add that file to the exclusion list on Avast? It occurred completely randomly.

Sounds like a plan to me! Though I don't know the AV, isn't it possible to override the AV from the warning screen, instead of having to re-install Sia?

You'll have to make an exception for Marlin in Avast. Or disable Avast. Or just use claymore.

  • Same issue. Will apply fix and notified Avast of false positive.
