Missing Siacoin after renting

  • A little over 6 weeks ago I began to run Sia on a spare computer to rent some storage on the Sia network. The contracts were formed and files were being uploading. I was having issues with the computer/hard drive and it ended up crashing.

I fired up Sia on my main computer and used my recovery seed. To my dismay, my SC balance was zero. There were two large transaction around the time I was forming contracts and uploading files. Did I get hacked? Are all my SC gone?

    Here are the txs:

  • Did I get hacked? Are all my SC gone?

We can't know the answer to these questions, however this is what we know:

    • these two transactions happened, and moved the 70k and 75k SC to another address
    • 145k SC were moved to other addresses in two transactions

    So, to put it differently:

    • Without forensic evidence from the time of the hard drive there's no way to figure out what happened, i.e. if it's a bug, a hack, a clueless user, or yet something else.
    • The 145k SC are likely gone forever, unless the owners of the wallets belonging to target addresses feel compelled to return them to your wallet, for whatever reason...
