Access files of same account on two devices

  • Hi guys,
I am ethusiastic about the idea of Sia and would like to try it. I find it hard to get started though. I installed sia-ui on two devices.
I would like to upload and access files on the same account from both devices on parallel.

I created a wallet on device 1. On device 2 I "recovered the seed" expecting to get connected to the same account. However this did not have the desired result: Now device 2 has my Siacoin and I uploaded my files. Device 1 however shows a balance of 0 sia. My starting amount was deposited then removed - I assume this was because it was moved to another wallet on device 2. Device 1 also shows 0 files so it seems to use a separate account.

How do I achieve the desired result?

I don't think you can do that yet. It's a major flaw in the UI. I have no clue why it would be designed so non dynamic like that. And with everyones coins going missing and no response from devs at all it looks like SIACOIN has been abandoned.

Make sure you tag me @bryan if you need to me respond.

  • I don't believe the feature is possible as is. In theory if you used the exact same wallet on both machines I imagine it would work, but I would advise against it. The developers are working on a file sharing extension that will give you the results you are looking for. I don't know the timeline off hand.

  • Thanks for your responses! I have to say my first experience with Sia as a user has been a sobering one. I guess the product is still pretty early and I'm rooting for it's growth.

The mentioned file sharing feature should be due this June: https://trello.com/c/7litw6xv
However, this is file sharing with other users which goes beyond what I am trying (file sharing within the same user account). However, since it seems sia is treating my two devices like separate users it may be what I require.

    So I'll wait. Thanks!
