Unauthorized transactions.

  • Global Moderator

I'm at least two unauthorized transactions in my wallet. I have only sent money once and it was a donation to a dev around here. But none of the 3 sends on my wallet correlate to his address on the explorer? Am I being robbed? or am I doing it wrong? Thanks in advance.

14 hours and no response from devs? Has SIACOIN been abandoned? Wallet clearly compromised.

Are you a host or an uploader by any chance? Those features automatically take SC from you wallet to work.

  • Global Moderator

@Fornax I am an uploader but these transactions are much higher than my limit and when you view it under the explorer it does not show it as a file contract.

Could you post a transaction ID and a screenshot of the transactions? And what is your configured allowance? Note that the client automatically pays for 3 months in advance and you get refunded for what you didn't use at the end of those 3 months.

  • Global Moderator

I'm not at the computer that has the info right now but my allowance is 3000. I have used 1600 of that 3000. The 3 transactions are approximately 1956, 1932 & 4003. There are also a bunch of smaller transactions but those happened when I set my limit and I don't believe are related to this problem. Why wouldn't host payments be clearly marked?

  • This reminds my thoughts some time ago.
    http://forum.sia.tech/topic/725/unclear-sc-withdrawals-expenses/5

Now I understand that "the wallet" (as module preparing the transaction list) does not know about the origin of transactions as the wallet gets them from the consensus. And the information from intercepting and storing in local database transactions from host and renter modules would not be reliable as it isn't forbidden to have multiple wallets operating on one "account" (seed).
Now I would ask- is there a way to "guess" (read "find most likely") the type of transaction when looking in the blockchain explorer after a txid?

My question is that if it does turn out to be just hosting fees (I HOPE). How could it go over the limit that is in place? Why am I setting a 3000 limit if it can be bypassed?

@Fornax Here are the transactions.. It turns out all three are fraud and the transaction I actually sent is not even in my list.

  • It might be worth scanning through your host log to see is anything correlates to the timestamp of those transactions. For Windows the default host.log location is: %appdata%\Sia-UI\sia\host\

That's a good idea. I checked no matches.

  • @bryan Hmm, odd. It might be worth poking around the other logs, especially the gateway. Is your setup pretty stock or did you forward out some ports to ease management, etc?

  • Global Moderator

@droghio After I posted I checked all the other logs. Nothing there. It's as if they were meant for another account. Even stranger is my transaction isn't there. I didn't do any port forwarding. It's just the download from SIA.

  • @bryan Odd, just for the heck of it can you verify the version of Sia you are using, and are you using Windows? Also if you are using the Sia-UI try running the version command in the Terminal plugin. Also... just cause I've seen weirder.. can you verify you have only one instance of siad running (multiple sia electron processes are fine), and that instance quits when you quit Sia-UI?

  • I just found I was wrong thinking the node (wallet) isn't smart enough to be able to guess the transaction type.
It shouldn't even be so hard to implement...
But I need to refresh my coding skills. Damn, it's over 15 years since my last programming activities!

  • Global Moderator

@droghio I'm using 1.2.2 on Windows 7 64. I dunno what the rest of that means. SIA is very new to me. I only got involved because I saw some serious potential for something I wanted to work on.

  • Hello,

I am very interested in SIA project but am really disappointed that the "client" still is giving lots of problems - specially funding problems.

I made 6 transfers from Bittrex. 3 showed up & confirmed. 3 were unconfirmed. So I waited & waited! Finally I exit the app & logged in once again.....& all 3 unconfirmed transactions have disappeared!!!

    Kindly note my transaction IDs:

    87cb8538a14fccae8fcdfdc0d97d4bac5692bf0366e203195b8ef0aa0e29fcc8 (3,000.90)

    55e122cb16b46f418de25784d6e85cf5bbb69f4495bfc8272143aa50430e8197 (3,698.9)

Kindly help me out. Keep in mind I am not a coder!

    Thanks.

  • I checked all 3 transactions on SIA block. They came & got processed. Why are they not showing up in my wallet?
