Sia coin a failed project?
-
I found Sia coin while looking up HDD mining and other HDD Projects. I liked the idea that I could rent out my extra storage space. I have plenty of extra space on my servers, so I downloaded the wallet app to get started. Then I get informed that I need some Sia coins to start with. Okay fine, so I go to buy some. None of the markets that Sia links to on their page actually sells SIa coins. I go on google and on this forum to find out that many people ae loosing or missing transactions. Is this just Another failed currency Project?

Given its value I can't agree that it has failed. I'm super exited for all its possible uses.

Forum Mod. I cannot fix transactions. I can't help with Mac or Linux.

Unofficial Web Based Siacoin Wallet. No more syncing.

@XAERO; I agree with you to the extend that SIA is a bit diffucult to get into - there is a learning curve; you must understand the renter/host - mechanics, the collatteral, the allocations and then you must get hold of som coins to get it started... Right now the coin is not easy accessible, and is best obtained via a change, like shapeshift.
The coin itself was invented to be the payment veheicle to support the consumption of data storage, and as such it is not a failure. However the project is still in a very fundamental stage - I will not hesitate to call it still experimental, and I am notby any way connected to the core development or represent SIA in any way; just participate in the dialog here in the forum.
It will go big one day!! It's the only non corporate and truely distributed sharing system out there based on a block chain governed system.
The coin it self is at the moment seing som solid specilating making it less ideal to use as mean of payment. The core devs are super good, and have done some very sneaky thinking - just look at all the documentatin if you're prepared to look at some pretty "nerdy" details :-)

shapeshift doesnt even have siacoin.

...strange... I've used shapeshift before to convert... they must have taken it away for some reason!?
-
That is kinda my Point. None of the other two sites can deliver either, so basically no new hosts can be added. I guess I will just leave this. Doesn't seem stable.

Shapeshift is buying SC on polo and when polo is Temporarily Disabled then shapeshift is disabled too. Bittrex works good.

Cryptopia works well, and so does Bitsquare (https://market.bitsquare.io/?market=sc_btc)
There are many places you can buy Siacoins from:
