Blockchain slow download?

I've been downloading the Sia blockchain in my client for days now, and it's only up to 32800. I have 6 peers as I'm writing this. Is it always so slow to download? How large is the blockchain file size? It would be nice if the client had an ETA and it told me how many blocks there are to go, instead of having to use the website to see what the latest block number is.

A bug (actually, multiple bugs) in our syncing code has been causing problems for a while now. Specifically, many more blocks were being downloaded than were necessary. We missed it for a long time because the blockchain was relatively small and our connection speeds are fast.
These bugs were patched in this pull request. You can expect them in the next release. (Or, if you're brave, you can build a binary from the master branch.)
