  Yes any existing contract will still have files linked to it (unless those files are deleted), but unusued allowance is forfeited. Correct.

  Sia will claim all this space immediately after you set up amount of space you want to rent in client settings. Even before announing host to network!

  But you can change this setting any time. After announcing host too - renters anf other host will get updated info on next contact with your host. So set this value < unused space now.
  And increase it later after moving your files to another disk.

  Nah, not all. Some buy the ASIC as an investment. I mine just to hold and use in the network.

  No smart investor of ASIC will just instantly dump their coins to lower the market.

  Plus this is a year away, Sia will be more widely adopted by then.

  There's nothing in the code that would make it feasible to "auto purchase" 1 TB of space.

  To answer your question. The command is [ renter allowance cancel ] to cancel your allowance and get out of the contracts you may be in.
  I have tried this and it worked. The caveat about Sia is- once your in contracts your stuck. This command will basically cancel the allowance- but you also loose those coins. they do not come back.. which is a deviation from Storj (in that they onyl charge you for what you use vs what you do not use).
  But I understand. Your not able to select contracts.. weird to me too. But to get out - you can use the above command and move on without worry of loosing additional coins.

  I don't think the problem is a specific host at this point. I've tried multiple machines, each with different wallets, thus different contracts, with different files, and I can't upload any larger files without it going from 40mbps to .1mbps after half a day or so. After giving it days to upload, I tried restarting, and it just keeps uploading at .1mbps. Have others successful uploaded large files? From what I've experiences, it feels completely unusable :(

  thanks @bryan i solved this. As an information for another users, you need to copied the wallet file from c/users/username/appData/Roaming/sia-ui ... and threre is a directory call wallet and there is everything you need not from the directory where sia-ui is running. Only for Windows users.

  Sia is so fuggin complicated for most new users to adopt that this alone is a barrier to coin use... and price hikes. Sia is not a speculation coin.. its a token to use in the Sia Network. Thats nothing special.
  Sure idea may be good, but the people are not going to speculate on this. There is nothing to speculate about. You think coins just rise- just because new technology is out? Nothing Sia has done is new.
  But all new coins have some sort of new technology- Sia doesnt have 1 single new idea (speaking of the coin itself). The implementation of Sia would have been BEST had they simply done this as ETH or BTC coins- not its own coin. Then the mining and everything else would actually work for speculators, hosts, and renters.
  Sia has nothing to separate it from the pack- Nothing. At least nothing worth making the price rise on its coin.
  If it was going to rise.. early adoption and proof would be key.. they dont have that. But feel free to throw $$ at Sia. Its always going to be this cheap token that serves 1 purpose only. Ranks in with Reddcoin.

  I was running mine at 1 sc for collateral and cost per TB.

  However the rating penalty for it was very steep. To the point I wasn't getting any contracts.

  And, another point.
  I think the optimal storage price should be somewhat comparable to mining rewards if the investments in needed hardware are comparable.
  Both parts are very important for the network. Hashpower without storage is worth nothing to Sia, the same is true for storage without hashpower.
  So, for example, a 10TB consumer grade hard drive suitable for hosting is comparable pricewise to a GTX1070.

  Hope you get my point.
  Currently you loose if hosting (hosting earnings do not cover the power bill), but profit from mining. And I think that is not fair.
  In a year that means you should earn comparable amounts from hosting a 100TB array or running one obelisk.

  By "comparable" I don't mean "same", but relation 1:1000 is sick.

  The price of sia isn't tied to USD. If USD drops in value, then USD to SIa goes up.

  There are a lot of sia coins, but there needs to be for the network. (see: contracts, collateral, proof of burn).
