~~Sia~~ ShapeShift makes it trivial to lose $?
-
In pretty much every cryptocurrency it is safe to send $ to an address that you own—except it seems Sia?
I sent two txns to an address that I know I own, but I don't see the second one showing up, even though I'm fully synced with the chain and it's been almost an hour since the transaction occurred.
I saw in some threads that Sia tries to discourage address re-use, which is good, but address reuse is only relevant when sending, not receiving. Regardless, it should never result in a design where people lose their funds. Even if my funds are not lost somehow, it should also never result in a UX where users think their funds might be lost.
Are my funds safe? When will they show up? Or is Sia designed to lose their users their $?
EDIT: According to this thread:
Additionally if not enough blocks have been mined since your transaction (usually 144 so ~a day of waiting) your wallet won't show your new funds.
TLDR: It'll take about a day to see your funds, and you can only see them if your client is synced.
Maybe that's what's happening? It didn't take anywhere near a day for the first transaction to show up (only a few minutes if I remember correctly). Why on earth would it take an entire day for the second transaction to show up? I'm not aware of any other blockchain where the delay is so long (and seemingly random).

I've synchronized the chain twice now, once from the instance I had running, and once from a fresh instance with a re-imported seed (via
siac wallet load seed). Restarted UI. Funds are not showing up, which means either Sia or ShapeShift is broken. Pretty terrible first experience, and I really wanted to like Sia. :(

Update: Using ShapeShift's
txStatAPI I've determined that this seems to be ShapeShift's fault.Their API lists both transactions as
"status":"complete", but the second hasnullfor its"transaction"value. How can it be "complete" if there is no transaction? Now I have to deal with them. Not cool ShapeShift! >:-(
Will update thread when I figure out what's going on.

@taoeffect ouch, I just Shapeshifted some into SC and for some reason it is taking forever for the chain to sync (China internet connection?) is there another way for the chain to sync?
I hope once the chain syncs I can see the funds on my wallet.
