Ports Open & Host Online but...

  • A couple of items:

    1. Ports 9981 & 9982 are open pingable and host is reachable. My firewall is letting both siad TCP and siad UDP through and both NAT and UPNP are allowed on my router.

    2. When I announced my host I gave it the name/address: sia.host1.91m161k.org:9982

My questions are, if I changed the default address will this be an issue for Sia Hub reporting and usually how long does it take for a host to be view-able on Sia Hub. I left Sia open all night and still do not see my announced host.

    Thanks in advance,

  • I get an error message

sia.host1.91m161k.org’s server IP address could not be found

It can take a day or more for SiaHub to pick up your host once that's resolved, that's not unusual.

  • Thank you for your reply maol. I'll give it another go this evening.

  • @maol One more quick question. So it's ok to create a custom server address as long as the correct port is listed?

Yes it's using the standard DNS resolver library, so any domain name that resolves to your IP address is OK. I'm using a DynDNS type setup, too.
