Unable to form contract

  • I noticed that no new contract were formed in the past week other than the 1 that happened when I first set this up. When I looked in the logs I see this a lot:

2018/02/24 20:38:14.848219 contracts.go:580: Attempted to form a contract with xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9982, but negotiation failed: insufficient funds to cover contract fee and transaction fee during contract formation

The Sia Wallet is unlocked and has just over 5000 SC in it. Why would this happen? How high of a balance do I need to have in the wallet?

also for my own files I only have 18 contracts after a week. what would cause this to be so delayed?

  • any ideas of why it is not forming contracts? I really want to use Sia and back the project but if it doesn't work I'll switch what I'm using on the system. Storj is another option that works. Everything says it is right with the SiaUI on the system but for my own files/contracts its been over a week and I'm only to 20 (not the 30 needed) ... I put 5100sc in the wallet to fund the contracts and rental and over a week still nothing. Hoping the progress on this project moves to get this working faster. Any help would be great.

What is your allowance for renting storage? Try increasing the allowance and the contracts should increase to at least 30. Depositing SC into your wallet will not affect contract formation, your allocated allowance for renting storage does. If your allocated funds run out, it will have trouble forming contracts.

  • that fixed the issue with the files side but the hosting side I see a lot of these errors:

2018/02/28 17:22:25.128152 errors.go:151: communication error: error with 194.96.176.54:57778: incoming RPCFormContract failed: contract verification failed: renter proposed a file contract with a too-long duration

and I changed the contract length to 52 weeks... do I need to re announce after making that change?

You do not need to reanounce after changing your hosting config.

  • I noticed these in the logs...

2018/03/01 06:49:47.891951 contracts.go:580: Attempted to form a contract with 71.226.233.91:9982, but negotiation failed: insufficient funds to cover contract fee and transaction fee during contract formation

I have over 7600sc in the account now... (almost $150)... how much is needed to get this to work? I have it set to Max Duration 52 weeks, Collateral per TB per month 200, Price per TB per month 105, Bandwidth Price 25, Accepting Contracts YES, Conversion Rate 0.01% ... A total of 4299GB to be rented.

It seems to be a very high price to put up to make half of that amount and it says its still not enough.

  • now I have 12600 sc in the wallet and still get the same message about not enough funds to form the contract. How much do I need in there? At this point its about $270 worth of SC. Seems odd that this is not enough for basically $8 per month on the income side. Is there something configured wrong or am I missing how much is needed to form the contracts?
