Help with Mac OS desktop please!!
-
Hello there!!
Sorry, yes, I'm using Mac OS (desktop wallet). I'm having a same problem and from the help gotten and still waiting, can't log on my wallet with the pass/seed given.
I installed the wallet before the last update where I could unlock the wallet!! After the update the pass/seed doesn't work!! When this happened, when I opened the wallet, it synched and made one update on it!!
The zip file downloaded from sia.tech contains the application file, 2 text files and one html licence file!! No other folder or new files were added.
The path to wallet.db is $HOME/Library/Application Support/Sia-UI/sia/wallet.
But if I go to Application Support, in my computer, I don't have the Sia folder. Just the Sia-UI folder downloaded.
I'm really starting to stress about it!!
Any help please?!
Thanks

As long as you have your seed you can recover your funds. You don't need the wallet folder or anything else. Consensus data, and even an empty wallet will be created as necessary, and using your seed you can re-import the funds from your old wallet.
Did you say that Sia made a new wallet when you updated? If so you should now have two seeds, one to the old wallet, and a new one for this wallet. If you know both you can unlock the new wallet and then use the "Recover Seed" option in the GUI to pull the funds from your old wallet using just the old seed.
Just so that I understand, do you have any files under your Application Support/Sia-UI path?

Thanks for the answer!! Yes, I still have my seed and on the wallet using now I can not recover it.....And tbh, I really don't thing that with the update it created a new wallet. I said that with the update, my seed/password stoped working, appearing the message "error when calling /wallet/unlock: provided encryption key is incorrect".
And no, there are no files under Application Support/Sia-UI......there is actually no path in Applications even!! It didn't create an application file, just a readable/executable file that I opened from the downloaded zip.

Ok I think we can get you up and running again pretty quickly. You have to drag the Sia-UI application to my Applications folder manually. That way you can pull it up as normal. When you fire up the Sia-UI app it will automatically create all necessary files under your
~/Library/Application Support/Sia-UIdirectory.So to get back up and running:
- Exit Sia-UI, Use
Activity Monitorto make sure Sia-UI really quits, that is always a fun thing to debug. - Stash anything under your your
~/Library/Application Support/Sia-UIand restart the Sia-UI. - Wait for your Sia to fully synchronize the blockchain. This will take a while...
- When you relaunch it, go to the wallet plugin.
- It should recognize you don't have a wallet present and ask you to make a new one.
- Do so and record the new seed.
- Click the "Recover Seed" button and put in your old seed.
- Wait for a blockchain re-scan and you should be good to go!
- Exit Sia-UI, Use
