Concerns about stored data
-
Hi,
I have several unused TB of storage space on my server/miner and interested in hosting data via Sia. Before taking any further steps, I wanted to better understand how the stored data is monitored.
Are there any guidelines to what data can be stored? If so, what processes are use to monitor compliance?
I am concerned about data of an illegal nature being stored on my local server. As an example, if someone decides to set up a streaming service for pirated movies. Even with VPN, the potential liability is a concern.
Due to the decentralized nature of the project, I am assuming the uploader is completely anonymous?
Also, I assume no complete files will be stored on any single machine, an uploader would actually have his/her data distributed over any number of machines?

You're correct in all your assumptions. Also: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=sia+hosting+illegal+content

Had that covered. What I was asking was more structural. Unless I missed something, I can’t find any statement from the project leadership on “guidelines for acceptable content”. I suppose that’s by design. Anyhow, not hating on the project, just determining it’s intended boundaries.
