Files as disk blocks - block storage size and costing

  • I'm looking into ways of creating a block device out of Sia file storage since sia currently doesn't support block storage.

(BTW, if you would like to show your support for block storage, click the link above and comment)

In most filesystems, storing a 1-byte file takes up a minimum of a 512-byte block.

    • What is the minimum storage size stored by Sia?
    • What is the minimum storage size charged by Sia?

I'm trying to work out the optimum file size to use as backing for block storage:

    • If a single byte is changed inside a large file, is the whole file re-written or is just a portion of it re-written?
      • What is the size of the that portion, and does it differ based on the file size?
