Is there any problem with my server?

  • Hello.

I have a sia-server. You can see it on https://siahub.info/host/4575 web page.

I have two questions about the server:

    1. I have around 275 SC left on the balance. In the very beginning I had 1000 SC. Can somebody explain me where is the money? Is it collateral? Why is it so much and where can I see the whole amount?

    2. Why the server doesn't accept new contracts after 10 Gb?

  • @GHopper
Most likely you have run out of SC for locking as collateral.
If you had 1000SC and set 500SC/TB/month it means you offer enough collateral for 2 terabytemonths.
    Or 2/3 TB (~667GB) for 3 months.

So the existing contracts may have locked all (most) of your collateral and new renters are refused by your host as you have not enough collateral left for new contracts.

  • Enter
    host -v
in the console and you can see how much colleteral is locked.

  • Here is my output:

    $ ./siac host -v

Should I keep my wallet unlocked always or it is only for my own purposes?
Should I worry about 82 error calls?
    I can't understand where is my 1000 - 251.4 = 748.6 SC. I had set collateral only 500SC / Tb / Month, how can I lose more than 700 SC for only 12Gb data?
How can I know the details about my contracts? Duration, size, revenue and so on...
What it was on 10Gb point? Why new contract didn't sign so long?

  • @GHopper
Yes, a host must be in unlocked state all the time so new contracts can be made and collateral withdrawn as needed.
The most difficult to explain (I can't) is how is it possible that of 1000SC available 3786SC are locked?

SC are locked as collateral for the whole duration of contract in advance. So if you set 500SC/TB/month means that a contract to store 1TB on your host would lock 1500SC for 3 months.
    Or 3000SC for 1TB for 6 months (25 weeks).

    In other words:
Your existing contracts have locked all your available collateral (even more than available) thus you don't get new contracts.
Your problem is the existing contracts have uploaded only 11GB yet.

  • It seems like I should decrease the collateral size? What is the average value for it?

I don't want to earn by the server. I like the idea and ready to support. But I don't want to be a sponsor too) So, I am adding one more 1000 SC and let the system use my 1Tb disk space. What settings should I set for this aim achievement?

  • I startet with a colletaral setting of 1000 per TB per Month to boost my Score, but with time i decreased it to 50 because of the huge amounts of colleteral that gets locked vs. the tiny amount of data that gets uploaded.

  • Lol.
I just realized the same could be preventing my host to get new contracts...
With the only difference existing contracts could have reserved all my shared space for them (not collateral).
I am sharing 4.5TB and have put 75KS as collateral.
Used are 270GB, locked collateral 41KS. As I have put 1500 SC/TB/month collateral, so if I assume that it is for 3 months, shared space is locked 9TB. Or all my shared 4.5TB are locked in 6 month contracts...
And thus i don't get any new contracts...

I was pretty confident that the price is the limiting factor.
Let's add some more shared folders and see what happens.

  • Why it is so:
    ./siac host config collateral 250SC
could not get host score estimate: cannot call /host/estimatesc
How can I change my collateral size?

And I have found out quite useful command:
    ./siac wallet transactions
which shows all your money movements.
