Hosting from a worthless Windows 10 Machine?

  • If you are hosting from a Windows 10 Machine and have been dominated by the auto update/restart, I have found a solution without having to modify the registry, simply set your wireless network to a metered connection and the auto updates will no longer wreck your day while you're at work.

    Cheers!

@sparechange Why not just turn updates to manual?

I think there are versions of Windows 10 that do not allow to easy switch the autoupdate to manual.

Just checked, my version (Windows 10 home) has no checkbox for enabling or disabling.
At work there are Windows 10 Pro, which have that option and even automatic updates are disabled by default.
Makes sense as that is "domain controlled" and could stop the whole company if something incompatible gets installed by the autoupdate.
