GTX1080TI

  • Built a friend a sia coin mining rig, we spend a lot as he wanted to use it as a gaming pc should sia become to low in value to turn a profit,

So i recommended he purchased the best cards with the best m/hash numbers only info i could find was that the 1080 done 1900mhash each.

So we decided to go with ti cards 11gb extreme edition cards expecting at best 5000mhash if we overclocked the cards.

Well we managed a whopping 6000m/hash with just two cards installed and the sli bridge connected and operating.

Was this a good result and have we found really great cards to mine with ? is there any other suggestions or faster cards for less money ?

    thanks.

  • my 980Ti hovers between 1600-2000 MH/s

How much faster do you want! Looks like those numbers you might pull a profit in a year. Depending on how much your electricity costs. But hey you might not have to use your heater as much!

  • I just purchased two 1080 (non-ti) cards for $450 each and in total I'm getting 4000 MH/s for comparison.

  • Yeah i realised they are good numbers i have been mining for around a year so the basics i have, but i did find it hard to find much comparisons on gpus especially for sia coin.

So was hoping to see some number, i myself currently running two rx480's what give a pityful hash rate, i would like to explore more gpus and see what is the best cost to hash power ratio thanks for replying

  • We have increased the cooling by seperate these cards and removing the sli bridge, the speed has now increase to nearly 4000m/hash per card!

  • I can do 3000 Mhash/s with my Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti without overclocking.

I can do over 2000 Mhash/s with the same card WHILE GAMING at 120 FPS.

    It's an epic card.

@pcenginefx which cards exactly and how did you clock them?

@heandog69 I'd say that's a fair result. To get 6k I have to use 7 cards so 2 cards is dope. Is it high memory that gets you the best hashing results?

  • Hey guys,

Just got a few GTX 1080TI Founder's Edition.

However, it's actually doing 300+ MH/S instead per card.

Using Claymore dual mode on Window's 10. Any ideas what happened?

Using the latest drivers from Feb based on Windows driver update.

@Crypto_Addict you're probably getting low hash due to the dual miner. If you want to see high numbers try marlin or cc miner. The dual miner puts a majority of your power into ethereum. You could also try using the - + keys to adjust the power ratios in claymore.

    I believe you're right.

I just switched to Marlin and my hash rate jumped significantly. Now I have a different problem. Seems like my hashrate keeps getting slower the longer it runs. Went from 11k > 8k and further downward. Ideas?

The gpus seem to run hot at 85-86 c atm...

@Crypto_Addict I think 83-84 c is the sweet spot for temp. See if you can point a house fan or something at the rig.

@Crypto_Addict also cc Miner is a little more consistent than marlin.

  • @bryan

Alright. I'll download the ccminer and see how that works out.

Any sweet spot you know of for claymore or how I can adjust the intensity to prioritize siacoin (safely ofc).

Docs mention dcri, but not too clear how that works; newbie here. Don't wanna give up on that eth but 300 mh/s for sia on a $700 gpu is huge waste.

@Crypto_Addict claymore is primarily for ethereum. So you'd only use it if you mainly wanted eth. Gtx performs better on sia than it does ethereum. But you can adjust the ratios if you push + on your keyboard. How many 1080 you running?

    Running on 4 ti cards.

Fumbling around with ccminer atm. Says failed to get extrnonce1, stratum subscribe not correct, and json-rpc call failed.

    Lol oh boy.

Trying to figure out where to put in my wallet info, pool, etc.

With very little tech knowledge seems like this rabbit hole goes deep.

@Crypto_Addict it's taken me a year to finally understand mining well enough to be profitable. And then I sold all my ethereum when it hit 20$ lol.

    You what??

    LOL

Similar situation here. Use to buy through the exchange. Cashed out everything
before the first bubble in 2014 at a laughable price.

Now I'm forever kicking myself. -______-

@Crypto_Addict after a year of mining it hit 20$ and I said sell it all and quit because it never gonna go anywhere lol. And now I'm building an air conditioned mining room with dedicated circuits and gigabit network in my house lol. Should be able to support 20 rigs.

    That's a sick operation. 20 soldiers strong.

It's ironic that a dedicated "mining room" actually brings in more revenue than renting it out to a tenant. A living, breathing, human being.

  • Global Moderator

@Crypto_Addict Realistically I can prolly only afford to run 4. Right now I can't even find 1 gpu you to buy that isn't price gouged. Should be able to get RX 480s at about 220 but no one has them. So this room may never get used lol. They want 600$ for these cards and it just doesn't add up.

Your GPU's are auto throttling - basically they are slowing down to keep themselves from burning up.

I am running 2 - Titan XP (pascal) cards in SLI mode - Both liquid cooled. They do not get over 60 degrees Celsius while overclocked and running 24/7. They average 6.5MH/s and I'm able to mine just over 1000 SC/Day.

What kind of case are you using?
