i love the idea but if sia coin doesnt start working on their concept someone soon will.and i mean there is no mobile wallet and they are not providing enought information where sia can solve problems i can see huge number of areas that sia will florish such it is the medicaljournals.bankaccounts.books.firm documents.school.and personal numbers for people.sia should keep things that are worth of kepping not things that doesnt matter.but filles like that are important for all of us such the books .tekchnics.all what we build until now should be kept in sia if something happen to the world our achievments should not go lost.
i will stote im sia only important things .
I do not know about hosts, but the reason I did not try storing more data are big contract fees (it wanted 1600 SC just to make a contract) and uncertainty about what happens after contract expires, 3 months really are not much. I actually do not have that much data (or rather, bandwidth for much data), but it would be nice to store encrypted backups in a decentralized way. Although one host-one guest is hardly decentralized now, is it?
@siastored@larsfloe in v1.2.0 it is still recommended that you keep the files locally. I understand that this defeats the purpose of using the cloud for most cases, but it's also the highest thing on our priority list.
If you need to keep your files locally, what's the point of having an option to 'download' files? Or more generally, what's the point of Sia?
Currently if you use lose the metadata you are SOL. We have plans to make it so that you can recover everything - the contracts, the metadata, and the files themselves - using just your wallet seed. This is probably several months away though.
